HI........ We are struggling to keep our bunny wabbit from peeing and pooping on our back steps.
Our snowy has the run of the backyard (cause she was not a happy camper in a hutch) and is best buddies with our 1 year old labrador.
The problem we are having is that during the night she is leaving her calling card IYKWIM all over our back doors and steps. They are covered in the mornings! And it smells!!! Not to mention the 5million flies that love our back doors! Other than this issue she is really good with her 'business'... there's one spot on the lawn that she goes in, and that's it.. apart from our current problem.
I'm assuming she is marking her disaproval of our dog sleeping inside and she's not! My question is... is there something we can spray or put near the back doors that rabbits don't like and wont pee near??
We have tried a spray (containing amonia) which is meant to stop dogs and cats doing this,,,, but it didn't work with Snowy.

Any ideas????

Hi Billbill,

im not sure what stops them from peeing in a certain spot, but maybe you could help her and put a kitty litter tray on the steps with some kitty litter in it and then you could empty it. We have bunnies, and we have problems with our girl too getting her to go where we want. Good luck though, let us know if you find anything that works Smile

It's a catch 22 really too I guess.... cause we could put something really really shocking smelling there.... but then we're just gonna have the smell in the house too !! Bit of a bugga really!

have you tried vinegar? I know that works with dogs, might be worth a try, at least it is cheap! Good luck!

not along the lines of the spray ideas but could you get an old play pen? you could then put this around your steps. A bit annoying but eliminates the smell factor of sprays

Not sure that would work... I'd have to get a pretty high one.... she jumps up the retaining wall that is approx 1 and a half Metres tall.... so I'm guessing a barrier around the back doors wouldn't stop her...... hehehee.... little ratbag she is!
Don't ya just love pets sometimes...... Hit head

it would be a pain to do it every night but you could but alfoil down or one of those puppy training pads down so at least the smell wont stain the step

I actually had that thought only lastnight! That's a bit scarey... maybe I've been on here too long..... hehehee...... If I can't find an easy way out of it I might have to look at something like that... as much as a pain it would be...... Thumbs down
