Hello All,
Just writing to get peoples opinions on my predicament. Basically I'm planning a secret holiday to Sydney for DH for 7 nights (as his xmas present). We have 2 dogs, 2 birds and a cat to look after... MIL said she'd take the older dog, but the younger one is a puppy and will most likely run off (as they're going to Moonta for the week AND they already have 2 dogs of their own). The birds we can get the holiday food blocks and they'll be fine, they're normally fine when we go away.
With out cat what should we do? I can't get her (or the dogs) into kennel's. Do you think she'd be alright if I got my Mum to come over every second day and fill up her food and water bowls big time. She's a very small eater. She eats half a cup of biscuits and one small sachet of meat each day, so if my Mum put out a whole can and a massive bowl of biscuits would she be alright? She's an inside cat and has the laundry to herself so there's no ants or anything. I just worry about her!
Thanks in advance for the input! _________________

If my cat had a whole can, it'd be gone in day 1, haha. Have you considered a pet sitter? If you think your cat will be ok for a couple of days you might only need a 2 visits.
I once considered a pet sitter that I found in my local Messenger Newspaper. A quick search found this website:
http://www.homebuddies.com.au/
Just search Pet Care Services and pop in your post code.
Hope this helps you out a bit _________________

Yeah I was thinking of that type of option. I'm looking for someone to house sit that we trust 100% It's really hard because there's really not many people we know who live at home. Only a few cousins who we wouldn't let stay here without us here, especially over new years!
I spoke to my Dad and he said he'd come over every day for the first 3 days we're away for and feed the cat and birds, he also said he'd take our puppy to the riverland with him if my Mum can't take her. Just gotta find out if my Mum can pop over every day or so and check on the cat and birds then all will be good.
Geez animals make things so much harder! Normally we go on holidays in SA where we can take the dogs, it's so much mucking around!! _________________

Yeah it is tough when you have pets, but I wouldn't be without them.
My mum is looking after my cat when we to the Gold Coast in a couple of months. Am going to miss my little cat lots _________________
