|
|
I was purchasing an item and had a $50 out to pay for it.
At the counter and I was just going to hand it over when I realised I had a $20 so I went to put it back.
The cashier snatched it out of my hand and started processing it.
I said, 'Excuse me. I want that back. I have a $20 note here.."
And he said, "No, you've already paid for it."
Incredulous, I said, "Actually, I hadn't paid for it. You just stole it off me. Now give it back."
He glared at me, gave it back and took the $20.
Bemused, I thanked him for the change and left the store.
As I was going to my car, a man asked me if he could look at the $50 note.
I was like okay, how many weirdos are in Valley View today.
He asked me if I could read him the serial number on the note. Humouring him I did and he smiled and told me something.
The cashiers swap notes at the till with certain serial numbers and sell them on eBay for a profit. Apparently, the $50 I had was worth $800 and that's why the bloke in the store was so aggressive.
I couldn't believe it. So I checked online. Sure enough, there appears to be quite a tidy little money changing business happening in retail stores around the nation!
So if a cashier snatches money out of your hand, you'll know why.
This has never happened to me before. Perhaps it's a South Australian thing! |

Why would certain serial numbers be worth more? How bizarre! _________________

Weird, I guess he wouldn't have known the serial number, but he probably figured the more $50's he gets through the register, the more chance of getting one of the $$$$$$$$$ ones. lol makes me want to check all my $50 notes now hehehe _________________
