| The development of our collective
style has been carefully considered. We are an artistic
collective who believe honest capture of candid moments requires
intuitive and experienced photography… there are no second
takes, or the candid is lost. Our viewpoints are composed
carefully, without intrusion or effort. We edit artfully and
naturally... and we are always intentional. The responsibility
for successful documentary photography lies with the
photographer, not the subject. As photographers we are observant
enough to predict actions and interpret reactions. We remain at
the same time sensitive to periphery, privacy and sensibilities.
It’s about taking a natural, sentimental moment and composing it
as artwork... in an instant. No posing, nothing contrived.
From our perspective, there's little sentimental value in
'creating' the photograph. Sentiment is attached to the reality
of a moment... the afterwards 'remembering' of the truth in it.
Posing or constructing 'a moment' can't impact in this same way,
it's just a photographer's interpretation of an event rather
than a representation of the event in truth. Photographed well,
genuine moments are the most valuable subject matter. Nothing
else needed.
As documentary photographers, we have each and collectively
threaded our personalities through our work. Your story also
becomes ours. We do what we do through a genuine interest in
people, their action, emotions and reactions… as well as a
belief in the importance of remembering time. From this we have
evolved a definitive strength of photographic style. For each of
us, it is our genuine interest in all we see that defines the
results of all we do. |
